The end of Prince in Print and the beginning of a new blogging era

Prince in Print coming to a close

As much fun as our PrinceinPrint blog has been, we have started new blogs to allow more flexibility in how we share our ideas.

Child's Play (Stephanie's new blog)

I started planning preschool activities when my first daughter was about two. I became dissatisfied with the teaching resources available and decided to create my own preschool curriculum. I wanted something grounded in the sciences to keep the material interesting. Now, I plan monthly themes and develop mini lessons to teach the topics.

To me, simplicity is the key when it comes to teaching preschool. Kids are simple and do better when the activities and projects are child-focused. I don’t believe in workbooks or file folder games. I do believe in reading, discussing, exploring, creating, and doing. I believe that children can learn advanced concepts if they are taught little by little with a central focus.

Everything in this blog is meant to be simple and realistic for young children. The lessons and activities are also designed to take very little prep time so you have more time to spend with your kids.

The blog is an ongoing synthesis of evolutionary biology with organizational change.

Reminds me of life growing up

I relate most to Bert here. You can guess who was more like Ernie.

Catch-Up

The weather has finally cooled down some so we can enjoy the outdoors again. Sophie is crazy about her stuffed animals and calls them her "children." She has developed into a pretty good little artist and loves drawing pictures of families. Ellie crawls all over the place and pulls herself to standing using whatever she can find (including legs). She is a very happy, smiley baby and loves to be around other people.

On a family bike ride. Sophie is starting to ride on her own.
Ellie loves playing by the window in the front room.
Sophie showing off her "crazy hair" while Ellie gets in some standing practice.
Sophie showing off her raccoon mask and discovering how heavy pumpkins can be!
According to Sophie, this is our family holding balloons.
